SMC introduces innovative wireless fieldbus system
SMC has launched a wireless fieldbus unit, EX600-W, that offers customers a decentralised solution that is EtherNet/IP™ compatible and can withstand electric noise, deeming it reliable even in harsh, industrial environments.
The EX600-W is the latest innovation from SMC that offers plant operators an exclusive wireless and decentralised fieldbus system that can manage both digital and analogue signals, as well as pneumatic products.
Using the high frequency, restricted ISM band for industrial, scientific and medical facilities, the EX600-W is unaffected by other factory noises. Also, key for operators working in harsh environments such as automotive and welding workshops, is the fact that communication is highly reliable, as the use of frequency hopping techniques prevents interference from other wireless equipment and data encryption stops unauthorised access.
Furthermore, being wireless, the number of cables and connectors are cut, minimising installation, modifications and maintenance time. The risk of disconnection and circuit breakage is also significantly reduced, improving both performance and productivity.
The EX600-W also offers even greater operational flexibility as it can be positioned pretty much anywhere, which is ideal for those working with moving parts, such as rotary and indexing tables and robotic arms.
A spokesperson from SMC said: "The EX600-W is a breakthrough communication product and addresses industry concerns about electric noise interference, which customers have historically had to spend on costly solutions.
"Not only is it highly dependable and easy to install, the EX600-W offers our customers a genuine wireless solution to meet their communication needs for today and tomorrow."
