Boost flow and minimise loss with new SMC angle seat valve

Boost flow and minimise loss with new SMC angle seat valve

The new JSB series angle seat valve from SMC offers a number of key advantages to OEMs and end users alike, combining long service life, low pressure loss and compact dimensions with a high flow rate. Suitable for use with steam, water and air, optimisation of the JSB’s body flow profile ensures this space-saving valve can deliver the same flow rate as larger counterparts and, in turn, support system energy savings.

JSB angle seat valves are ideal for use in almost any type of fluid control equipment. The valve is perfect for sterilisation applications in milk and beverage filling machines, for example, as well as process boilers in the food and beverage sector. Sterilisation equipment in the medical and pharmaceutical industries can also take advantage, as can any process sector application involving washing activities with steam or hot water. Indeed, across the general manufacturing and automation industry there are a myriad of potential applications set to benefit from the SMC JSB angle seat valve, including water/steam heating systems and temperature control devices.

Long service life

Aside from high flow rate and reduced pressure losses, a further notable benefit of the JSB series is long service life, up to an impressive 10 million cycles with air or water, and up to 3 million cycles with steam. This level of durability promotes reliable machines, reducing instances of equipment failure and subsequent repair costs.

A compact dimensional envelope offers another significant advantage. Floor space is precious at manufacturing and process plants, so selecting smaller components without compromising performance is a key ambition of design engineers as they look to make competitive gains. The height of the SMC JSB series starts at just 121.3 mm, a factor that also aids installation in tight spaces.

Easy cleaning

Ease of cleaning is among prerequisite factors in sectors such as food, medical and pharmaceutical, which is why SMC’s team of expert R&D engineers worked hard to minimise spaces where dirt, debris or chemicals can accumulate on the valve surface, in turn reducing the possibility of contaminating the process. This design ethos, which includes the avoidance of unnecessary protrusions or hard-to-reach areas, also ensures straightforward maintenance. In addition, each component of JSB series angle seat valves is replaceable, further reducing the cost of repairs.

Of course, none of these inherently beneficial design features come at the expense of performance. True to SMC ethics, the JSB series features thermal insulation on the actuator to help maintain the internal temperature within the desired range and, subsequently, ensure consistent and accurate performance.
