SMC 64-station valve manifold: more stations, more possibilities

SMC 64-station valve manifold: more stations, more possibilities

SMC is introducing its JSY3000-L series 64-station, five-port solenoid valve manifold to support the effective control of more components than ever before from a single manifold. Indeed, SMC is taking the concept of centralised control management a step further by simultaneously releasing the JSY3000-P series, which provides the further potential of connecting electro-pneumatic regulators to the manifold alongside solenoid valves.

Extensive scope

The new valve manifolds are ideal for the centralised control of a large number of components in the same application, offering from 4 to 64 stations and 128 output points. This capability makes them ideal for general manufacturing and automation tasks across a host of different industries,

Part of SMC’s extensive directional control valve family, the plug-in JSY3000-L and JSY3000-P manifolds typically suit installation inside a control panel.

Benefits here include reduced cabling and wiring work, which alongside lower cost means less errors, faster assembly, fewer potential communication failures and a lower number of elements subject to wear and tear. A further advantage is the need for fewer SI (serial interface) units, a factor that again simplifies assembly and reduces product cost.

The new valves also offer compact dimensions. Due to the use of fewer cables and other components, mounting the equivalent of 64 stations saves up to 10% of space in the JSY3000-L and up to 28% in the JSY3000-P. As a point of note, the simplest 64-station valve manifold configuration has a length of just 960 mm.

Smart communication

Wide fieldbus capability is available via the SMC EX260 SI unit for JSY3000-L valve manifolds and the EX600 for the JSY3000-P model. Valve manifolds with comprehensive communication capabilities offer several advantages, including remote monitoring and diagnostics. The immediate detection of issues such as component failures, short circuits and cycle counts helps users to optimise operations. SMC’s compact EX260 and EX600 SI units offer a centralised output system for serial transmission, providing compatibility with protocols that include PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT and IO-Link (the latter is only compatible with JSY3000-L). Users can connect up to eight input and output units to the JSY3000-P series to control and receive signals from other elements and have overall control.

JSY3000-L and JSY3000-P solenoid valve manifolds offer environmental protection thanks to their respective IP67 and IP65 ingress protection rated enclosures. Moreover, customers can take advantage of various options to suit their individual applications, including blanking plates, individual spacers and blocking disks (for supply and exhaust), and silencers. These options make for highly customisable solenoid valve manifolds, which users can easily extend or modify in the future if application requirements change.
