Job Title: Technical Sales Representative (South Region - Western Cape)

SMC Corporation South Africa is recruiting a dynamic, self-motivated, and inspirational Sales Representative.
The successful candidate should satisfy the following:
The Role and Responsibilities:
- Daily, multiple face to face meetings based on forward meeting planning, response to urgent requests and, if necessary, cold calling to access new customers
- These visits should be to all levels of customer contacts including Maintenance, Stores, Buyers, Engineers, Project and Purchasing Managers, Accounts, Owners or even Executives
- Based on Customer interactions then, research, analyse and select technically suitable products, determine Price and Lead Times, and suggest and quote primary or alternative products to drive value addition, improved productivity, and gain customer appreciation
- Daily admin activity including updating our CRM, weekly reporting, and customer specific admin
- Technical AND Sales demonstration of alternative or new products at customers to increase sales
- Be ultimately responsible for developing and maintaining strong cooperative service relationships between those Customer teams and SMC’s own departments
- Gain awareness and develop strategies based on the Market conditions, Product mixes and competition within your customers and sales area
- Develop, implement, and maintain strategic account plans and performance monitoring using our proven business strategy models.
- Grow sales through Customer, Industry and Product diversity to achieve targets and grow market share
- Self-Learning is essential through our E-Learning portals and official and ad-hoc training sessions
- Reporting and presenting at monthly sales meetings
Qualifications and Experience:
- An Advanced or National Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical or ideally Mechatronics Engineering
- 2 years Automation / Manufacturing Industry experience incl. Technical Product and Solutions knowledge
- Sales Process theoretical knowledge and practical skills experience including a proven record in:
- Understand practical and conceptual sales strategies & how to apply them to increase market share
- Successfully managing strategic customer relationships
Personal style and Skills:
- Your interpersonal style should be confidently presentable, well-spoken, and knowledgeable but humble enough to inspire acceptance by fellow employees, customers, and SMC corporate teams.
- The successful candidate will work primarily from home but calling within Western Cape and surrounding areas.
- Regular daily calls to customers require a flexible time commitment and licensed, safe driving style.
- Self-motivated and driven to achieve goals and targets
- Efficient & highly responsive to admin tasks incl. Customer or SMC Outlook, CRM, Office, & other needs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent negotiation and networking skills
- Solution focused, analytical and reasoning skills are essential to provide technical customer service
