We are pleased to unveil the updated clean-profile, round air cylinder CG1-Z Series. This new series, with bores from 20 to 100m, offers enhanced auto switch mounting and includes many new features that reduce assembly and maintenance costs together with improved flexibility. Fine adjustments to the auto-switch can now be done by simply loosening one screw and improved visibility is achieved thanks to a transparent auto switch bracket. Both male and female rod end styles can be selected, with the female rod end available as standard and up to 52mm shorter in length to its male thread partner. A variety of mounting bracket options, a simple construction and no accumulation of foreign particles thanks to the basic mounting without trunnion female thread, make the CG1-Z suitable for a wide range of applications such as clamping, pick and place and positioning across many industries.
At SMC we have 'rolled' out an upgrade of our MGP Series guide cylinder, which is now smaller and boasts new features. The new MGP-Z is testament to our commitment to invest in ongoing research and development to refine and improve the performance and functionality of SMC products. The MGP-Z is up to 17% lighter and offers space savings thanks to shorter guide rods, without impacting on the variety of functions, robustness and quality performance of the original series. Another recent key development feature is that round auto switches can now be fitted directly onto the MGP-Z cylinder, removing the need for mounting brackets and reducing labour costs. The common issue of incorrectly positioned auto switches is also mitigated when using SMC's two colour indication solid state auto switch, D-M9*W. The MGP-Z has many standard feature options including three types of bearings, four mount designs, piping from two directions and offers cooper and fluorine free versions. Suitable for many industries including General Automation and Car, it has several applications including smooth pusher and lifter, lateral load by acting as a stopper where shock is applied, or minimising plate displacement.
This product is being discontinued and will be replaced by C96-C (ø32-ø100) series.
With the expansion of our Series C(P)96 ISO range, we can now offer our customers even greater flexibility and cylinder performance. Now available in a non rotating rod type (CP96K(W)/C96K(W)), these cylinders offer great precision and deliver non-rotating accuracy of ±0.5º or ±0.3º in Ø32 to Ø63 or Ø80 and Ø100 bore size respectively. Also, we have introduced a smooth cylinder type, with reduced piston sliding resistance (C96Y) which is particularly suitable for transfer applications requiring smooth movements at low pressure. For applications in explosive atmospheres, the C(P)96 range is now available in an ATEX compliant version (55-C(P)96 which meets ATEX category zone 2, or category zone 3 when fitted with an auto-switch). With a growing range of "made to order" options available as standard and a choice of rod boot materials, there has never been a better time to check out our Series C(P)96 cylinder range.
Series CG1 precision air cylinder has 8 bore sizes and can meet any application need. The tube is impact extruded aluminum to produce an extraordinarily smooth finish, allow low break-away pressure and smooth stroke action. Eight mounting options are available. Auto switch capable.
The C95 is ISO, VDMA24562 interchangeable, and utilizes a tie rod construction. In addition to standard cushions and wear band, the C95 utilizes a "floating" cushion seal design that greatly improves operation. SMC's exclusive "figure 8" seal insures long cycle life.
The MY2 high precision guide cylinder is available in bore sizes 16mm, 25mm and 40mm. This series has been designed with a high precision single or double axis guide to create a compact, low profile cylinder. Maintenance has been simplified by allowing the cylinder to be detached without disturbing the guide unit and work piece.
SMC's CG5-S series is a stainless steel cylinder, perfect for use in wash down applications such as food processing machinery requiring intense cleaning. The use of non-toxic additives allows confident use in equipment for foods, beverages and medical products, etc. The CG5-S can be disassembled, allowing replacement of seals, which promotes an extended service life. SMC provides plugs for unused mounting threads to prevent residue build-up in the threads. The use of stainless steel (SUS304) on external metal parts provides improved corrosion resistance in environments with exposure to water.
Series CJ5-S is a stainless steel cylinder, designed for use in environments with water spray (such as food processing machines). A special scraper (standard) prevents water from entering the cylinder. Non-toxic additives allow confident use in equipment for food, beverage and medical products, etc. The CJ5-S series can be disassembled for replacement of seals.
The MGP is designed for high side load applications found in material handling, lifting and stopping. The cylinder utilizes an ultra-compact design by incorporating the cylinder body as part of the guide body. As the stroke length increases, so does the bearing length, thus enhancing the cylinder's load bearing capacity. Conventional designed guided cylinders have a set bearing length resulting in dramatic decreases in side load capacity as stroke lengths increase. The MGP is the latest generation of guided cylinders and offers higher load capability, longer strokes, 2 port locations, switch mounting grooves on two sides, and a more versatile T-slot mounting than the MGQ series. Order made options for this series include adjustable air cushions, heavy duty guide rods, copper free, high temperature, and low speed.
The MHZ2 series is a standard type parallel air gripper, taking the place of the MHQ(G)2 series. A linear guide provides high rigidity and high accuracy. MHZ2 can operate under higher pressure even at a larger holding point and overhang. High degree of mounting precision is achieved and mounting repeatability is improved.
Series MIS is a one-finger type escapement. The MIS has independent fingers for free setting of timing and mounting position to accommodate the work pieces moving down a line. Supply ports on both sides allow selection of piping direction. Separation of the piston and fingers allows easy replacement of fingers for maintenance. Three different finger variations make it possible to freely select attachment mounting surfaces on the fingers.
Series MIW is a slider guide cylinder, with two sequentially operating fingers. The sequential operation uses a mechanically interlocking cam mechanism in addition to control of air passage to the pistons for reliable separation of work pieces. Separation of the piston and fingers allows easy replacement of fingers for maintenance. Three different finger variations make it possible to freely select attachment mounting surfaces on the fingers.
Series MQM is a lateral load resisting, low friction, compact cylinder for low to high speeds. The metal seal construction with low operating resistance allows actuation in speed and output control ranges that are impossible for ordinary cylinders. The MQM offers long life expectancy of 10,000km or 100 million full cycles.

The MQQ cylinder is a compact, low friction cylinder designed for low pressure, low speed, uniform speed or low friction applications. MQQ is available as standard or a lateral load resisting type (with built-in ball bushings). Bore sizes range from 10mm to 28mm and strokes are available up to 100mm.
The MRHQ series is a rotary gripper suitable for holding and reversing work pieces on transfer lines. The compact integration of gripping and rotating functions eliminates the peripheral piping and wiring of the previous product (rotary table + adapter + air gripper). The length of the MRHQ series has been reduced by approximately 20% compared with the previous products.
The MRQ provides linear and rotary motion either simultaneously or alternately. It meets many handling applications, is simple to use, and when combined with SMC grippers, provides combined motions for picking, transferring, and rotation. Available in 32 and 40mm bores with strokes from 5 to 100mm; rotation from 90° to 180°. Connection ports are available on both sides of the cylinder, as well as end-of-stroke sensing for all positions.
For long strokes with compact size and an integrated guide, the MY1 series rodless actuator provides an ideal solution. The MY1 mechanical joint rodless cylinder includes four standard models, which allow the appropriate bearing style to be selected in order to match the accuracy and load requirements of your application. If necessary, you can also combine the basic MY1 cylinder with an external guide in order to create a special engineered solution. Piping options can be selected according to the application. MY1 is available in 9 bore sizes from 16mm to 100mm. Standard strokes are available up to 2000mm with a 5000mm long stroke option on some bore sizes.
At SMC we are rolling out upgraded mechanically jointed rodless cylinders that will give our customers improved performance and functionality. The MY1H-Z linear guide cylinder, ideal for high repeatability applications, has a new magnetic dust seal band minimising the number of external particles entering the system.Following requests for a lighter mechanically jointed rodless cylinder with improved auto switch mounting, we are pleased to unveil our new MY1B-Z Series. Up to 17% lighter than our existing rodless cylinder basic type, these lightweight cylinders can now be mounted with our dual colour Series D-M9*W solid state auto switch at any point along the mounting grooves. The cushion needle, which is now placed in the top for easier accessibility, can be adjusted using a simple hexagon wrench.
