At SMC we have 'rolled' out an upgrade of our MGP Series guide cylinder, which is now smaller and boasts new features. The new MGP-Z is testament to our commitment to invest in ongoing research and development to refine and improve the performance and functionality of SMC products. The MGP-Z is up to 17% lighter and offers space savings thanks to shorter guide rods, without impacting on the variety of functions, robustness and quality performance of the original series. Another recent key development feature is that round auto switches can now be fitted directly onto the MGP-Z cylinder, removing the need for mounting brackets and reducing labour costs. The common issue of incorrectly positioned auto switches is also mitigated when using SMC's two colour indication solid state auto switch, D-M9*W. The MGP-Z has many standard feature options including three types of bearings, four mount designs, piping from two directions and offers cooper and fluorine free versions. Suitable for many industries including General Automation and Car, it has several applications including smooth pusher and lifter, lateral load by acting as a stopper where shock is applied, or minimising plate displacement.
We are pleased to introduce the improved MHT2-Z Series toggle air gripper. This updated model, available in bores from 32 to 63 mm, uses our compact CQ2-Z Series cylinder as its base cylinder, which means that D-M9* round auto switches can be directly mounted on any of its 4 surfaces, thus reducing labour costs and increasing auto switch mounting flexibility.Reliable and safe, the MHT2-Z incorporates safety measures, so the gripper can hold the workpiece even in the event of an air shut down. It also has a gripping moment of up to 106 N•m which makes it suitable for gripping heavy workpieces. Extremely flexible with 3 types of mounting and many made to order options available, this air gripper is suitable for all general pick and place applications, particularly in environments with temperatures up to 100 ºC.
The MGP is designed for high side load applications found in material handling, lifting and stopping. The cylinder utilizes an ultra-compact design by incorporating the cylinder body as part of the guide body. As the stroke length increases, so does the bearing length, thus enhancing the cylinder's load bearing capacity. Conventional designed guided cylinders have a set bearing length resulting in dramatic decreases in side load capacity as stroke lengths increase. The MGP is the latest generation of guided cylinders and offers higher load capability, longer strokes, 2 port locations, switch mounting grooves on two sides, and a more versatile T-slot mounting than the MGQ series. Order made options for this series include adjustable air cushions, heavy duty guide rods, copper free, high temperature, and low speed.
Series MGF guide tables are low profile, compact cylinders which utilize a large concentric guiding sleeve to provide excellent eccentric load resistance. Mounting is possible from 2 directions. A built-in non-rotating mechanism prevents rotation of the table top. T-slots are provided on 3 faces of the MGF body (except port face), allowing mounting of various brackets. Optional auto switches can be mounted on 4 faces of the body.
The series MGG guided cylinder is ideally suited for material handling applications involving stopping, lifting, and pushing. It combines the functions of a conventional cylinder, linear motion guide, and non-rotation device. Features include built-in shock absorbers, finite stroke adjustment, bumpers, and switch capability. Other features include: Slide or ball bushing bearings available, built-in shock absorbers and stroke adjustments, high degree of non-rotating accuracy, and high load capabilities.
The MGZ series is a non-lube double power air cylinder available in both rotating and non-rotating styles. The MGZ's unique design doubles the pressurized area for extension making the MGZ an ideal cylinder for lifting and pressing operations. The front end lock style MGZ holds the rod when extended.
Series MHL air grippers are designed for applications that require a wide travel range of gripper fingers. The MHL is ideal for gripping many different sized parts. Finger motion is synchronized by a rack-and-pinion mechanism. The double piston construction creates a compact gripper with large holding force. Available in bore sizes 10, 16, 20, 25, 32 and 40. Axial mounting (tapped body or through hole) or lateral mounting options available. Auto switches can be integrally mounted.
These grippers utilize a wedge cam design to minimize their size yet retains a high holding force. The small size of the units makes them well suited for end-of-arm or space constrained pick-and-place applications. The three-finger design of the MHS3 makes it ideal for gripping round objects and loading or unloading items from the chuck of a machine tool.
The RSQ series is a fixed-height stopper cylinder with proven endurance and low breakaway characteristics. The RSG series is an adjustable mounting height stopper cylinder. It can be raised or lowered according to the distance required to stop the work piece. The RSH heavy-duty stopper cylinder is specially designed for use on conveyor lines or other applications requiring an external stopping device.
